College As We Know It


Well, what’s the first image that we all get in our mind when having a conversation about college life, about degrees? We get many expected answers from different people. Some say it’s the canteen that made their college life enjoyable, some say it’s the fests and trips that made them feel apart from the busy crowd and enjoy themselves And for some, it’s just the feeling of being in college & realising at the day of convocation that the days and months and years spent learning to be a citizen, are never going to come back in life.


 


First day at college, is pretty much awkward for everyone. But gradually people become friendly, they come to know about their college more properly than by what they had just seen or read in a prospectus before entering the institution.


 


Claiming to attend all lectures seems a joke to everyone but there is a hundred percent appearance guarantee either at the canteen or the regular hangout corners near the college. The nearest restaurants are occupied by familiar faces to be seen at the college, all day long. Even the parking lot becomes a perfect place to crack jokes rather than attending a boring lecture.


 

 

 


The good looking lecturers at times inspire young students to show their faces in the class. Or at times it’s the warning bell of being in the defaulters list that makes students realise to actually open their books and start studying.


 


Hard to survive without it

Till the time students do not get their hall tickets no one is least bothered to be at home, shutdown whatsapp and study. The time when they are actually  expected to be cut off from the world and focus on clearing the sems, we can find them having long and late night conversations with their classmates or watching a late night movie and posting about it on facebook, just to show their daringness right before the exams.


 


There are many groups in the college to be seen. We get to see the “geeky group”, the “hip hop group”, the “ever so not to be seen at college group”, the “multi tasking group” or the “quiet and invisible till convocation group”.  College life is just incomplete without all of them. Each one of the students at college has a role to play. One is either the President of the student’s council or the other is just a regular student at college, having a real low profile.


 


The crankiness done by students in class , the field trips , the serious lectures , the  crushes , heartbreaks, fests , warning letters , results , fights , meeting at the hangout spot and a million other small and big happenings make these few years the most memorable part of our lives. This place makes us who we will be in future. These few years decide our fate. This is our college life. “College, As We Know It”.

She Moved Aside, Hoping a miracle would save her from the night.  Hiding in a corner Breathing like a baby She was looking for hope In a world where men sinned.  Looking out every second, Desperate to find someone through her sight  Waiting for the moment of safety But danger had no plans to spare.  Whispering to herself, In a voice that was scared but strong  A girl was trapped  Hoping she would not be forgotten, Hoping she would not be gone. MUMBAI - PART 1

The name is enough. “Naam hi kaafi hai”. Every single person you ask will be seen doing something. "Paapi pet ka Jo sawaal hai". Most students will just not be studying but will be working too, so that their lifestyle does not create a pressure on their family. Obviously leaving a bunch of rich spoiled kids who know that they'll end up getting their "papa ka office" and his property anyways. Harsh yet truthful. This first post focuses  on the lifestyle of a youngster between the age group of 18-30. Well at most places young means 18-24 but when in Mumbai there’s no limit to how young you can be. SO let’s just take the max limit here as 30. Early morning college, internships later followed by a party and if Redbull helps then there we go for an after party as well. It wouldn't just be a vague generalization if I say, "Every young party buff has had numerous such moments." Well I certainly have done it & it’s like a new story very passing day!
